Connecting people back to themselves — and to the human in each other.
Christa brings nervous system science, embodiment, and hard-won experience from nearly a decade at the frontlines of anti-human trafficking work to conversations about lasting change, belonging, and what it really takes to stay whole while doing meaningful work.
"The work of connection begins inside the body — and ripples out from there."Christa Mayfield
Christa Mayfield spent nearly a decade building educational programs, advocacy services, and community partnerships inside Houston's anti-human trafficking sector — first as Director of Educational Programs at Unbound Houston, then as the founder of Good Sustained, a wellness organization she created specifically for the helping professionals she watched quietly fall apart around her.
What she learned in those years became the foundation of everything she teaches now: that lasting change starts at the root, that our worst habits are nervous system stories, and that the distance we feel from people different from us is a problem the body can help solve.
"I kept watching people who cared deeply burn out — not because they were weak, but because nobody taught them how to stay in their body while the world asked everything of them."
Today, Christa coaches clients, produces community events, speaks on stages and podcasts, and is completing her B.S. in Sociology at the University of Houston–Clear Lake. She is a certified health coach, trained in motivational interviewing, complex trauma recovery, cultural competence, and ethical storytelling.
Christa excels in long-form, interview-format conversations. She comes prepared, stays present, and trades talking points for genuine exchange. Every topic below connects to lived experience, not just frameworks.

Why willpower fails and what actually works: getting underneath the habits we can't break to address what's driving them. Practical, soulful, and deeply human.
How we distance ourselves from people we can't relate to — and how to build the kind of real, embodied connection that leads to justice and healing, not just tolerance.
Compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and nonprofit burnout — what no one tells you before you spend years caring for others. For helping professionals, coaches, and leaders in service.
